Cape Town’s Internet Girl have been quietly building one of the most unpredictable careers to come out of South Africa’s underground, blurring the jagged urgency of post-punk with the swagger of internet-age hip hop. After breaking out in 2024 with “PULL UP”—a feral, genre-agnostic single that became one of the country’s biggest global exports—the group have toured relentlessly across Europe, including a stop at Pitchfork Paris that confirmed their reputation as a livewire force. Their new EP, THOSE WHO ARE AGAINST US ALL THE TIME, doubles down on their refusal to play by the rules: “NEEDY”, a sharp-edged collaboration with Lancey Foux, and “OKAY!”, their latest single, tilt between chaos and catharsis. Just as comfortable on festival stages as in fashion campaigns, Internet Girl’s partnerships with Adidas, FC Barcelona, Puma, DIESEL, H&M, and Spotify speak to their reach across music, style, and youth culture—a reminder that they are less a band than a movement testing how far disruption can go.
