DJ Lubi Presents
PLANTFOOD + Yoshizawa
Sunday 5th November 2023
Hyde Park Book Club / Leeds / UK
19:30

Leeds alt-jazz kings Plantfood are completing a fantastic 12 month period from November 2022 to autumn 2023. It has seen them launch their debut EP and do their first UK tour (both in November 2022), drop a sick jazz & bass single in spring 2023, play packed hometown gigs at both Belgrave Music Hall and Brudenell Social Club, and in summer 2023, they've ripped it up at some of the biggest and best music festivals in the UK (Glastonbury, Beat Herder, EskFest, Leeds Jazz Festival, Tonna Tropical Garden Party, We Out Here). All this as they slowly prepare their long awaited debut album for worldwide release in spring 2024.

Before that baby sees the light of day, they want to finish 2023 with a series of shows across the country promoting a bunch of remix tracks and that has to include a final alt-jazz rave in their home city of LEEDS. The date is Sunday 5th November. The venue is Hyde Park Book Club. Taking it back to roots where they first gigged back in the day.

And to make a good gig even better, they've invited along one of the city's newest and rowdiest hotshot bands coming out of Leeds Conservatoire right now. Talking about punk jazz explosion Yoshizawa. They've only done half a dozen gigs and already their mood filled atmospheric soundscapes mixing jazz improvisation, electronica and post punk influences, are building them a hardcore and loyal audience. Led by drummer Amelie Yoshizawa and featuring original music composed by herself and the band, if you caught them at Brudenell Social Club at DJ Lubi's Leeds Jazz Festival main show back in May, you know they don't mess about.

Definitely alt-jazz fireworks guaranteed for this bonfire night special from two of Leeds' most original jazz+ bands. With a capacity of just 150, this one is a dead cert sell out so don't sleep on tickets. Book them now.
