Recorded in 1982 (yet unreleased until 1986), Jealous was the John Lee Hooker’s first album of original material in years, putting him back on a comeback trail that culminated in his GRAMMY Award winning album The Healer three years later.

In contrast to the parade of guest starts who graced most of his late-period career albums, Jealous is a down-and-dirty effort from Hooker’s seasoned band. Featuring reimagined deep cuts from his early catalog, the album eventually won a W.C. Handy Award and was nominated for a GRAMMY Award.
