Tha Dogg Pound (the duo of Daz Dillinger and Kurupt) are foundational to the West Coast G-funk / gangsta rap legacy scene. Their voice and production style defined a slice of the1990s Death Row sound.
‘Dogg Food’ is Tha Dogg Pound’s debut studio album on DeathRow and a critical pillar in the label’s mid-1990s output.
The group had strong affiliation with Snoop, Nate Dogg, The Lady of Rage and the Death Row family aesthetic, giving crossartist brand leverage.
Because much of the production is from within the group (especially Daz), this album carries strong ‘in-house’ raw authenticity.
