Kulk - It Gets Worse

Human Worth are proud to present the immense new album ‘It Gets Worse’ from Norwich based two-piece Kulk, with a portion of proceeds donated to charity.

Kulk’s latest album ‘It Gets Worse’ comes two and a half years after the release of  their thunderous and experimental sophomore album ‘We Spare Nothing’ which saw  them further define their unique and monolithic brand of heavy doom and sludge  and sees the band mature massively in sound as well as cementing their place as  the future of UK heavy music. Jade Ashleigh (drums) and Thom Longdin (vocals and  guitar) have defined their sound massively across this release, focusing on louder and  more aggressive cuts throughout this 8 track album.

The first half of ‘It Gets Worse’ gleefully drags us backwards through the sonic  doom scape of the Kulk that we’re familiar with through wizzing saw noises, primal  gurgles and chugging riffs. ‘Mammoth’ hits a new stride for the band and sticks to  its name well, elevating their sound into something unstoppable and stomping with  much faster and aggressive passages than previous tracks. The lead single ‘Beyond  Gone’ turns a bleak and intoxicating stumble into a seriously cutting track and a  good summary of the depth and heaviness across the rest of the release. ‘Life Will  Wait’ features Adam Sykes of Pigsx7 who approached the band about lending some  guest guitar to the album which was captured in an exciting on the road recording  shredding session and summated in the moments of respite and versatility in  songwriting.Their infamous live shows and voracious touring schedule have garnered  a tight cult of fans including genre traditionalists and complete outsiders alike due to  their captivating displays of aggression and prowess in artistic performance. If you  haven’t heard of Kulk yet then it’s definitely time to start listening.

The album will be available to pre-order from 5th April and releasing in full on the  17th of May 2024 through Human Worth on vinyl and digital – a UK charitable label  showcasing incredible artists with a portion of all proceeds donated to help support  those in crisis and ensuring that bands are paid fairly. They’ve pressed up a limited  edition of stunning ‘Pink & Black Swirl’ vinyl with a special edition of signed copies,  with 10% of all sales proceeds donated to the Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust Charitable Fund.

HUMAN WORTH is a Brighton based charitable label, with a portion of all proceeds donated to support those in crisis. Founded in 2019 by Owen Gildersleeve (Modern Technology / Old Mayor) the label has been lucky enough to team up with an array of incredible artists over the years, raising thousands of pounds for a range of amazing physical and mental health charities, suicide prevention and LGBTQ+ rights charities, homeless shelters and food banks.

The label initially began as a series of charity shows up and down the country, hosting the likes of Thank, Cassels, Bruxa Maria, Cattle and Luminous Bodies with all profits from the nights donated to a selection of causes. Then in the spring of 2020, as a response to the international pandemic, Human Worth released their first compilation Human Worth Vol. I – bringing together twenty bands from the UK DIY scene, featuring a range of new and exclusive tracks from the likes of Thank, Silent Front, Casual Nun and Human Leather, with all proceeds donated to The Trussell Trust. The compilation was received with great acclaim, described by Fuzzy Sun as “The best UK compilation I have ever seen” and raising nearly £1,000 for charity. This was followed by Human Worth Vol. II later in the summer, this time teaming up with UK noise artists AJA to support her mental health awareness and suicide prevention charity Harmless, who on receiving the funds stated “Lives saved by music. Literally!”
