Description
Released in 1969, Clouds debut The Clouds Scrapbook showcases the band's
distinctive organ-driven sound, which was a precursor to the styles of later
prog-rock icons like Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Yes
Billy Ritchie, the band's organist, was particularly infuential, being one of the frst to
take a prominent, standing role as a keyboardist, setting a precedent for future
musicians in the genre
The album received critical acclaim upon release, with Melody Maker naming it "Album
of the Month" in September 1969. Despite its initial success, the band struggled with
commercial recognition, and their innovative approach was not widely appreciated at
the time. However, in hindsight, Scrapbook is regarded as a pioneering work that laid
the groundwork for the progressive rock movement.
The newly remastered version of Scrapbook offers a fresh opportunity for new
audiences to experience this seminal work. The remastering process has enhanced
the album's sound quality, bringing out the nuances of the band's arrangements.
