Emerging East London-based band, Folly Group will be
releasing their new EP ‘Human and Kind’ in March 2022 via
Ninja Tune’s imprint, Technicolour having cultivated fervent
underground support since surfacing in January ‘21. The
bands electronic infused post-punk sound and furiously
brilliant live shows landed coveted slots at Pitchfork Music
Festival, in NME’s “100 Artists On The Rise” and a co-sign
from IDLES’ singer Joe Talbot (speaking during a BBC 6
Music takeover - “Pound for pound, them and Wet Leg, every
track is so good. They haven’t released anything that isn’t
amazing... my favourite song of the year, Sand Fight”).

Cast from the tumultuous melting-pot of the London musical
circuit, three of the Folly Group quartet moved in together (the
house would eventually become their studio too). Sean
Harper (Drums/Vocals), Louis Milburn (Guitar/Vocals) and
Tom Doherty (Bass) inevitably found themselves experimenting.
The addition of close friend Kai Akinde-Hummel (Drums/Percussion
/Sampler), proved to be the missing piece of the puzzle.

With The i Paper declaring the band “brilliant, experimental
jungle rock” and Dork praising their “habit of tweaking the
template is probably what’s going to stand them apart”, Folly
Group are also a furiously brilliant live prospect. Ahead of a
2022 UK Headline tour following the new EP release, Folly
Group have been handpicked to play Pitchfork Music
Festival (The Roundhouse, London 2021) alongside
Stereolab, Metronomy, Mykki Blanco, Koreless and more;
Sold out socially distanced headline shows in Brighton,
Manchester and London, supported Nottingham’s Do
Nothing and appearing at Trans Musicales (FR) - filmed for
TV. Previous festival slots include Latitude, Visions Festival,
Psych Fest, Truck Festival and Misty Fields - also
performed a live ‘Transmission’ showcase at Rough Trade
East in support of their debut EP ‘Awake and Hungry’ of
which the Rough Trade Exclusive Edition now commands a
high price on Discogs. Live streamed for the likes of
Quarantunes and Live at The Windmill (alongside Kae
Tempest, black midi, Shame, PVA & more).
