JoBOXERS stormed the UK charts in the ‘80s. Their single ‘Boxerbeat’ reached No.3 while the next hit, ‘Just Got Lucky’ reached No.6 UK, Top 40 US and featured in the movie The 40 Year Old Virgin and as the opening track to Lindsay Lohan’s movie Just My Luck. The British heavyweight boxer Frank Bruno appeared in the video to their next hit ‘Johnny Friendly’ while their debut album Like Gangbusters hit the UK Top 20.

JoBoxers have toured extensively in the UK, US and Australasia. Other singles are ‘Jealous Love’, ‘She’s Got Sex’, covered by Sam Fox on her double platinum selling album, and ‘Is This Really The First Time’ which featured in the recent Gary Crowley’s Lost 80s album.

JoBoxers ‘very best of’ album Essential Boxerbeat was released in summer 2022 to coincide with their sell-out UK tour of clubs and festivals. The today feature all original band members who have continued to make their mark in music and the performing arts: DC COLLARD also plays with The The and appearing in their “2018 ‘Comeback Special” tour which culminating with shows at the Royal Albert Hall and Sidney Opera House and was also musical director for Lisa Stansfield. CHRIS BOSTOCK recorded and toured with Dave Stewart’s post-Eurythmics group, Spiritual Cowboys achieving two Gold albums in France and played with Paul Weller’s Style Council, Sandie Shaw, Spear of Destiny, Shakespeare's Sister, and Subway Sect (past and present). DIG WAYNE was key to starting the New York rockabilly scene with Buzz and The Flyers in the late 70’s and early 80’s. In addition to Jo Boxers, Dig worked with Matt Bianco, has a solo album: Shack Rouser and has had a successful acting career with a leading role in London West End musical Five Guys Named Moe while appearing in the movies: Judge Dread, Boo and Nightcrawler, and TV series including CSI, Criminal Minds and Revenge. SEAN McLUSKY recorded and toured in Subway Sect (past and present) Sandie Shaw and If? and is an innovator and promoter of London clubs: Club UK, Leisure Lounge, Merry England, Love Ranch, The Brain plus the label 1-2-3-4 Records. ROB MARCHE signed to major labels with his bands Earl Brutus and If?, and played with The Gun Club, Sandie Shaw, Dreadzone and Subway Sect (past and present). Members are regularly featured in biographies (Madness, The Clash, Paul Weller, Sandie Shaw, Dave Stewart); recent radio shows (Marc Riley, Gideon Coe, Robert Elms, Gary Crowley, Chris Evans); movies (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Just My Luck); recent magazines (Mojo, Record Collector, Viva Le Rock, Classic Pop, AMFM, Discussions); podcasts (Paul Weller, Pop Matters etc); Tim Burgess’s Twitter Listening Party and have been endorsed by Paul Weller, Madness, Frank Bruno, Phil Lynott, Fostex and Status Basses, among others.
