‘Light Of The Heavens’ was recently discovered andreleased digitally earlier this year. It was recorded shortlyafter the creation of the beloved and influential 1986 album‘Keyboard Fantasies’, which marks its 40th anniversarythis year.
‘Light Of The Heavens’ further showcases the sonic styleexplored in this pivotal period and is accompanied by aniconic performance video captured from the same era. Theoriginal recording and live version are available as aphysical offering for the first time, alongside the reissue of‘Keyboard Fantasies (40th Anniversary Edition)’.
Speaking on the single, Beverly Glenn-Copeland reveals:“We are so pleased to share this nearly-lost song andvideo. Credit to my friend and publisher Jeff Waye whouncovered this forgotten song while looking through oldtapes in my archive. It was recorded around the time of‘Keyboard Fantasies’ and I was so thrilled to be broughtback to that moment. Unearthing the video was especiallymeaningful to me for two reasons: dance has always beenmy favourite artform, and Susan McNaughton’schoreography and performance are deeply moving; plus Irecorded this on my favourite place on the Earth, theCanadian Shield where I lived in hermit-like splendour formany years. This song feels like a gift from my past, andall of us hope that you enjoy revisiting this era of the workso generously sent to me by the Universal BroadcastingSystem.”
Glenn will be featured in the upcoming season at MOCA(Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto) next year. Theexhibition will consist of ‘Light Of The Heavens’ beingdisplayed (audio and video) in their South Stairwell SoundSeries.
