The Weird Walk Record Cult presents The Archivist: Original Soundtrack, featuring music composed and performed by multi-instrumentalist Chlöe Herington (VÄLVĒ, Cardiacs, Swell Maps), released on limited-edition yellow vinyl.
Vibrating with the ritualistic turning of the year, Herington’s joyous, radiophonically enriched score accompanies the new documentary from Tim Plester and Rob Curry, the filmmakers behind The Ballad of Shirley Collins and Way of the Morris.
The film follows folklorist Doc Rowe, whose decades spent recording Britain’s living traditions have created an extraordinary archive of seasonal customs and celebrations. As he battles to preserve that collection, Herington provides a musical travelling companion to a world of ritual, memory and communal life.
A meeting of experimental music, documentary cinema and folklore, The Archivist invites listeners on musical adventures in time and space — and through the changing seasons.
