200, selling nearly 150,000 copies in its first week. The album earned Ciara two
Grammy nominations at the 48th Grammy Awards.
Released on June 8, 2004, Goodies, Ciara's debut single (featuring rapper Petey
Pablo) gave listeners their first taste of an up-and-coming superstar artist whose music
blended R&B, pop, and dance with signature twists on hip-hop and its sister sub-genre, crunk. The track was penned by Ciara along with Sean Garrett and produced by Lil Jon.
The song was a hit with critics and a commercial smash, sitting at #1 on the Billboard
Hot 100 for seven consecutive weeks, making history as the chart's longest-running #1
debut single by a female artist since 1977.
Ciara's Goodies album generated a string of hit singles in the wake of its iconic title
track, hailed by critics as an "anthem of the summer" and one of the best singles of the year.
According to the RIAA, the Goodies album has been certified 4x platinum with 1, 2 Step (featuring Missy Elliott) achieving 5x platinum, Goodies hitting 3x platinum, Oh reaching 2x platinum, plus "And I achieving gold status as of Friday, June 7.
