The debut album *Approach to Anima*, released in May 2023 by Guruguru Brain / Bayon Production and quickly sold out, will finally be reissued.
This rare first album, which was only available as an import with just a few dozen copies circulating in the Japanese market, is now making a return.

maya ongaku builds a fundamental groove while drawing out what lies deep within them. Sonoda’s supple guitar and vocals, Takano’s undulating bass lines,
Ikeda’s ethereal woodwinds, and the delicate percussion and synths create an abstract yet assertive, calm yet unsettling atmosphere.

The track "Approach" with its leisurely flowing saxophone serves as an introduction to the world of maya ongaku, while "Water Dream" seems to float towards
the serene finale of "Pillow Song." The album encapsulates their diverse interests and influences, blending elements of contemporary art movements like
Neo-Dada and Fluxus with the advancements in recording technology of the late 1960s. As the title suggests, *Approach to Anima* is not an endpoint but
merely the beginning of a journey.

The trio of childhood friends, maya ongaku, based in the rapidly upscale but tranquil Enoshima, always looks beyond the horizon.
Drawing inspiration from the energy of Kikagaku Moyo, the label boss’s band that rose to global fame through a decade of triumphs, they are capable of finding
their music wherever inspiration leads them, anywhere in the world. The free-spirited worldview of maya ongaku reveals the unseen, expands the possibilities
of the naked eye, and allows us to feel the untamed vitality of their music.
