Despite live music being derailed for 2020 Leeds’will host a monumental reunion show to look forward to in June 2022! Returning to the stage are The Music, the Kippax band that shot to the top of the charts back in the early 00’s with their hugely infectious dance-rock songs including ‘Take the Long Road and Walk It’, ‘Welcome to the North’ and the track with everyone’s favourite riff from 2002 ‘The People’.This outdoor show at Temple Newsam park (the site of Slam Dunk Festival, and previous site of the 2002 Leeds Festival that hosted the band as stage headliners) will be home to the only UK reunion show from the band. The show on 2nd June will be the only chance for UK fans to hear the stomping hits by the Leeds lads.

Formed in 1999, The Music went on to reach the UK top 5 with their debut album ‘The Music’ taking the UK live scene by stormand gaining a reputation for being one of the country’s most exciting live bands. Led by the euphoric vocals of singer Rob Harvey, and the riff-heavy guitar of Adam Nutter played agains tinfectious dance beats the band drew comparisons to The Stone Roses, Led Zeppelin and The Verve but their unique sound forgedsomething beyond their influences, with instantly recognisable tracks like ‘Take the Long Road...’ and ‘The People’ becoming indie night staples.

Joining the reunion party in June is a line-up of indie legends, leading the support billing is Wakefield’s very own ‘The Cribs’ themselves returning from a short hiatus withtheir brand new album and first in 3 years ‘Night Network’ was released in November 2020. Joining them will be The Wirral’s indie-pop heroes ‘The Coral’a mainstay of the indiescene for the best part of two decades. Fast-rising Scottish band ‘The Snuts’ who have already been selling out venues across the country and London outfit ‘The Skinner Brothers’ completing the bill. With such a strong line-up of bands this will surely be one of the gigs of 2022 as live music makes a triumphant return to Yorkshire, and an exhilarating way to forget live music’s most forgettable year. A statement from the band on the reunion show:

“We got invited to do a Tim’s Twitter Listening Party for our debut album and it just kind of grew from there. It reminded us how much we loved the music that we made together, and more importantly just how much we really like each other as people. So we booked a rehearsal, just to see what itwould feel like to get in a room and play together, and it felt amazing! We can’t wait towalk on stage next year, it’s going to be really, really special”

Commenting on the show Futuresound Promotions Director Andy Smith said: ‘Futuresound are going all out to bring some huge shows and events to the region in 2022 after a tough year for live music. It’s been a dream of mine for some time toget The Music back together after nearly a decade away, a band that everyone will remember in some way and shaped some people’s music identity. An unforgettable live band with huge songs. I’m delighted it’s come about now when we all need something tolook forward to.’
