Music curator\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eDave Massey\u003c\/b\u003e had sensed these strands having an influence on local musicians' creativity and approach. In compiling the first\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eBristol and Bath Blitz Club Meets Art School Sound - 80's Explosion\u003c\/b\u003e albums these became more apparent. Massey looked to use songs and tracks from out west that reflect the feel, themes and actions of what was happening in that 80's time, both locally and nationally. There was also an attempt to emulate the sheer eclecticism of a\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eRusty Egan\u003c\/b\u003e DJ set list on a ''typical''\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eBlitz\u003c\/b\u003e club night. Previously punk and funk were certainly mixing locally in bands, as they had in the ethos of\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eDuran Duran\u003c\/b\u003e, a product of Birmingham clubland.\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eThe Pop Group\u003c\/b\u003e and\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eGlaxo Babies\u003c\/b\u003e had already shown that and much would flow from various members as time went on.
