The Wannadies’ fourth album, Bagsy Me, was released in 1997 and features the band’s UK Top 20 hit single “Hit”, which reached number twenty in the UK charts.
The album follows the musical direction of Be a Girl, combining catchy guitar pop with an extra dose of energetic punk-pop. Retro synth sounds, powerful melodies
and infectious hooks come together throughout the record, creating a mix of upbeat songs and more emotional moments.
While Bagsy Me keeps the fresh and playful spirit that defines The Wannadies’ sound, it also shows a more mature and serious side of the band. The album balances
cheerful pop energy with deeper moods. The nearly nine-minute closing track “That’s All” stands out as the most hypnotic and atmospheric song on the record, bringing the album to a memorable conclusion.
Overall, Bagsy Me is another strong Wannadies album, full of memorable melodies, energetic guitars, and the band’s unique ability to combine alternative rock with irresistible pop songwriting.
Bagsy Me is available as a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies on translucent red vinyl and includes a 4-page booklet with pictures and lyrics.
