Gorillaz - The Mountain
Written during a period of grief for both Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewitt, and recorded in India, The Mountain is a meditation on memory, life and death. With a treasure trove of guest appearances from artists both dead and alive (Mark E Smith, Tony Allen, Joe Talbot, Gruff Rhys etc) It still bangs in places, but is an otherwise more sombre effort for the ninth Gorillaz album. An impressive effort all the same.
